Without further ado...
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg* refer to our substitution page, any of these will work great!
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Directions:
Mix sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract, and egg together, then add in other ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Heat at 375F. Lightly grease your cookie sheet.
Cut the dough in half. Roll each half about 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut in to desired shapes. Sprinkle with either sugar, sprinkles, or frost after baking. Place on cookie sheet.
Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until edges are a golden brown.
Remove from cookie sheet. Let cool on wire rack for 5 to 10 minutes.
***You can just go to the store and buy frosting or you can make it with this recipe:
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 to 2 teaspoons milk
Directions:
In a bowl, mix together the powdered sugar and butter with a spoon or electric mixer on low speed. Stir in Vanilla and 1 TBSP of milk.
Gradually beat in just enough remaining milk to make the frosting smooth and spreadable. If it's too thick add a few more drops of milk. If it becomes too thin, add in more powdered sugar. This frosting frosts a 13 x 9 inch cake generously or fills and frosts an 8 or 9 inch two layer cake.
